A Daily Dose of Faith
Diane Goold of St. Joseph, MO, USA
We know that we have passed from death to life because we love one another. Whoever does not love abides in death. We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us-and we ought to lay down our lives for one another. How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help? -1 John 3:14, 16-17
Prescription medications are miraculous! These little pills are prescribed for a plethora of illnesses and conditions, and when taken as prescribed dramatically improve our quality of life.
Faith is a prescription for a higher quality of life as well. We can’t see, taste, smell, or touch it, but we know it’s there. Used properly, it can cure our ills, absorb our frustrations, and lighten our burdens. And unlike prescribed medications, it comes free of charge! Galatians 3:9 says, “For this reason, those who believe are blessed with Abraham who believed.”
To obtain it, we must confess our sins and embrace Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We must pray for faith and take the prescribed dosage PRN (as needed) each day.
Is your faith lacking? If so, call on the greatest physician of all to renew it. Take as prescribed, get some much-needed rest, and wait for the positive results. There is no greater restorative power than faith!
“Faith is not believing that God can; it is knowing that God will” (Ben Stein).

Spiritual Practice
Growing a Gracious, Generous Heart
Open your heart to God’s grace and generosity with a “breath prayer.” Let your breathing slow and deepen. Be aware of God’s breath moving in and out of your heart. Spend several minutes focusing on breathing in God’s generosity. With each breath, silently name one gift for which you are thankful. Let your heart expand to contain God’s gracious outpouring of love. With each breath out, name one gift you want to share from the overflow of your heart.
